Sands of Iwo Jima
John Wayne at his best as Sgt Stryker, the tough, hard-nosed Marine grunt. But we learn that Stryker also has a softer side.
But overlooked sometimes is the performance by Forrest Tucker as Thomas, who starts out as a loud mouth malcontent, but turns it around right before the big invasion.
The love story is out of place, but in the '40's and '50's you had to have one.
Even as it approaches 50 years of age, this is still one of the best war movies ever made. While the battle sequences are rather tame compared to what gets shown in films today, they keep your attention riveted to the screen.

Not Bad, but not great
1 of 2 found this helpful These movies introduced the character of Karl Kolchak. This was the predecessor of the series "Kolchak: The Night Stalker". These television movies are not great cinema, but are entertaining. The characters are engaging but they do not create an lasting impression. These shows are a great introduction to the series that followed.

Cheech & Chong - Big Bambu
A classic example of '70's drug humor, this CD is one of the duo's best. It is funny throughout, although at times it does seem outdated. A highly reccommended addition to any comedy collection
