unsuitable for many measurements

This thermometer changes reading as a function of how far it is inserted into the liquid. I tried to use it for making fudge and it read 20 F lower than my standard candy thermometer. I also checked it in boiling water where the temperature is well known and it read low. I actually bought two and tested both with the same results. Might be fine if it was always fully inserted into the liquid.
