Fun game, high quality models
An enjoyable air combat miniatures game. Models are highly detailed, and while some small parts like missiles can be very fiddly and difficult to attach to aircraft wings, overall the planes can be assembled quickly and look amazing when painted and complete.
Gameplay is fun, using a hexmap to move and turn. Players secretly select a maneuver from a list of options, and reveal it on activation, but can change direction and speed so they aren't predictable. The mini bases are used to track speed and altitude, and climbing and diving are integrated in game play in an easy-to-follow way that fits into combat tactics well-climbing or diving makes you harder to hit, but also modifies your speed for the next turn, and you can lose control of your plane if you go too fast or slow.
Combat involves rolling lits of d6 dice. It's hard to land a damaging hit, but lighter planes can't take a lot of damage-only 2-3 hits usually. Tailing gives you a free shot against the tailed plane before movement starts, so position can be critical!
Overall, a fun game. A bit more rules-crunchy than X-wing or Wings of Glory, but definitely interesting and games go pretty fast, especially compared to 40K. And again, I can't emphasize enough how nice looking the planes are.
