Good expansion for JV-1080
There are two other Roland "Experience" expansion boards available ("1" - SR-JV80-99 and "III" - SR-JV80-97), but this has the widest range of usable sounds. Included are quite a few sounds from the highly sought after "Vintage Synth" expansion card (SR-JV70-04), so that's why I ended up buying this.

Useful when tracking or playing live
The Good: Although you can get noise and hum cancelling functions in VST/DX plugins, it's nice to be able to run a noisy piece of equipment through this as you are tracking or even performing live. The Bad: if the unit fails, some of the ICs inside this thing are obsolete, so it may be impossible to repair.
