Good bang for buck
8 of 8 found this helpful Xeon X5460 is a LGA771 CPU (intended for servers) and with a relatively simple modification of your LGA775 motherboard you can use it there and get a CPU of with better performance than Core 2 Quad Q9650, which is the most expensive Core 2 Quad CPU (around 3 times more expensive than X5460).
Otherwise it runs with a frequency 3.16GHz and has 4 cores and works really nicely with my LGA775 motherboard.
I don't really see any cons, except that the CPU has a high TDP of 120W (which your motherboard and cooler have to support)
So basically what you get is a really cheap CPU that is better than the best and most expensive Core2Quad version. Don't really have anything else to say.
