Failed under Windows 10
I tested the drive for speed... and reliability... Perfect and perfect. Speed was 30% to 50% faster than USB 2.0 under test conditions. After maybe 6 weeks in actual use the problems started.
As background: I went to Windows 10 about 3 months ago... WIth USB 3.0, I setup "backup" and "file history" functionality in Win10 ... Then set the USB 3.0 drives for "Readyboost" with and without buffers.
Within a month or so the PQI drive stopped functioning - dead - could not write, then a short time later could not read or format... I had the same problem with (2) other new USB 3.0 drives all failing within a few weeks... This PQI drive held up the best, but then best is not good enough when failure is death.
I think there might be an issue with USB 3.0 and windows 10. Could be "file history" and "Readyboost" are just too heavy/intense for USB 3.0. As a second thought: I run the same applications and setups on Windows 7 without any problems.
For the first time in my life, I actually lost files. My primary backup drive failed (USB 3.0). My secondarily backup drive failed (USB 3.0). My hard drive backup worked but was 6 days old at the time... 2 important files lost forever!!!
Be on guard, this product might work - or might not. I do computers for a living - I (and my clients) are holding off on USB 3.0 for another year. I don't think I will mix windows 10 and USB 3.0 again for at least 18 months or so.
Good luck!!!!
