Novice Caster Here, doing 200 per hour
2 of 2 found this helpful I have no prior experience with bullet casting, but have soldered before and melted lead before. I read the instructions, cleaned the mould with a Q-tip and lighter fluid - and used a candle to put soot in the bullet mould, and it was ready to go. I poured lead from my LEE 10lb pot set to "5" on an 80 degree day, and by the third pour the bullets completely filled the mould and were of shooting quality. I resized them with the LEE .356 die, coated some and plated others, and have been shooting them since!
When the bullets started to stick, I simply added more soot from the candle.
