Holy smoking phones!

I had old Uniden cordless phones that needed to have batteries replaced. These had not been used in some time, and were not properly stored (were in a dusty box in the garage). The batteries seem to be fine and of the right type. Maybe the batteries are fine and my phone was broken. Or maybe the batteries have a problem. In any case, I plugged in a battery to a phone. The phone would not power up. I set it down for a few seconds, and then there was an acrid smell of smoke as the phone self-destructed. This was actually kind of scary and dangerous. So I don't know if there was a defect in the phone, if somehow I installed the battery wrong, or if there was a fault of some kind in the battery. I think (but don't remember for sure) that I then metered the battery voltage and polarity--and the battery seemed OK. But in any case I ended up getting rid of the phones and the batteries.

Great cables, as expected

I am happy with these replacement cables. The insulation on these is a shiny PVC--different from the matte-finished rubber insulation that originally shipped from Sennheiser (but that was many years ago, and it is not surprising that they would change the cable). The quality, length, and other specifications of these seem to be exactly right. They work well with my old Sennheiser HD 570 headphones.
