Vintage Carpenter
Watching John Carpenter films just brings me back to a simpler time. Escape From NY is an 80's blast from beginning to end. Along with Big Trouble in Little China, Escape From NY is prime level Carpenter escapism (pun not intended). He's the master of horror, but his non-horror movies hold up today too.

Excellent fun reads
I bought the three pack of Pirate's Honor, Death's Heretic, and Liar's Blade. I read Liar's Blade first, and it far succeeded my expectations. All I was looking for was a quick read as I took a break from the long, epic fantasy novels I usually read. I was expecting it to be just okay, but Tim Pratt's book was well worth the time. I instantly ordered his other Pathfinder Tales novel, City of the Fallen Sky and I have heard great things about it, so I can't wait to begin that one. For my money, the Pathfinder Tales are much better put together and well-written than the Magic The Gathering books and they are equivalent to the better stories of the Forgotten Realms (i.e. Salvatore).
