Maybe not L series quality, but doesnt have L series price either. A*
I actually got the non macro version which just means an extra 0.5m to the minimum focusing distance. Firstly I would like to mention the HSM focusing system. I know all these Hypersonic focus motors are supposed to be very quite but this thing is so quite I thought it was broke at first. Size and weight of the lens, well you would stand out if you went to a party with it thats for sure, however I carried this on a 7D with a monopod for a whole day around the zoo and was not exactly back breaking. Image quality, well I've not tried Canons L series rival however what I can say is that the pictures are fairly clear from the word go, they obviously get sharper if you drop the apeture slightly but then so do most lenses. Even with a sigma 2X teleconverter on the images are very acceptable and with an apeture of 5.6 it can still autofocus (granted the tele will only fit sigma lens) All in all this lens seem great for very keen sports and wildlife photographers, as I said I can not draw a direct comparison to the Canon L series 70-200, apart from this is half the price. Case rests

For action pics and anything in good light its an ideal camera
I'll start this review with a quick talk about the 24-105 lens. Perfect! Right thats that out the way onto the 7D itself. I bought this as an upgrade from the 550d. It has the same 18mp ASP-C crop sensor that the 550d has, however an improve shutter system and dual processors means it can shoot nearly twice the speed as lower canon dslrs, the camera body is also alot bigger than the lower level cameras but I actually class this as a good thing as its alot more comfortable to grip and the buttons are alot easier to reach all round. Having used the 7D for various styles of shooting so far I can reach this verdict. The 7D, with its tough body and weather sealing it makes for a great outdoor camera, its crop sensor allows for better reach when trying to take pictures of objects far away (does mean struggle with close in or wide angle shots) Its high shutter speed does make it perfect for sports or wildlife when trying to capture that instant shot. Downside to the camera comes when trying to shoot in low light, as with all crop sensor cameras they can not pick up as much light as full frame, so the real solutions are a flash or if thats not feasible then uping the ISO but once your up to and above around 1600 ish then the noise becomes really rather noticeable. So big question to ask is what and where will you be shooting mainly? Outside or somewhere with plenty of light? Then the 7D is a perfect choice. Or more indoors or in limited light? If yes and picture quality is key then I would suggest a 5D mkII or the upcoming 6D

just buy it now, you wont regret it
Best wheel i've ever had. I dislike normal wheels as space limitations means I cant use pedals, so i end up using the paddles on the back as throttle and brake but these are normally just on/off buttons. This wheel has gradual paddles on the back dedicated to throt/brake. The wheel sensors react very well to movement, and as it's not attached to a steering column there is no chance of breaking it by overturning the wheel (which i have done before) But it does help if your chair has armrests to put your elbows on .... otherwise your arms will get tired
