Lennox IComfort S30 Smart Thermostat

Feature-rich, Lennox-only, overpriced, overcomplicated.

Had to buy this as our furnace was set up for a communicating thermostat, and the old iComfort WiFi unit died a few months after its 5 year warranty expired. This thermostat is is an improvement in many areas. Modern UI, more features and better connectivity and Google/Apple integration. It allows you to control all aspects of your Lennox climate control equipment in your home better than a third party system would. In the same time, it's way overengineered. Instead of a single thermostat unit, it now comes with a control unit/Wifi hub, magnetic wall dock and a removable thermostat/tablet. The separation is entirely pointless, making it harder to install and more problematic to use. As the temperature and other sensors are in the tablet, the system does not work when the thermostat is removed from the mount, making the entire modular approach completely pointless. You can still connect to the hub through the app, but when the thermostat is off, the system does not know what the current temperature in the house it, so it won't cool or heat up the house. Only buy if you're stuck with a communicating Lennox system.
