Ethernet to Thunderbolt OK!
2 of 2 found this helpful I am trying to set up a second router as a dd-wrt repeater bridge to connect to a Smart TV in another room. The initial setup requires an Ethernet to Mac connection. As most MacBooks no longer have an Ethernet port, you need the Ethernet to Thunderbolt adapter. To be sure of the connection on a Mac, you might as well go for an Apple adapter. The item shipped to me works perfectly and showed up straight away on System Preferences-Network. Whether I will need it again I don't know, but I guess I may have to re-configure the second router at some stage. Bit I am a happy camper now that second router is up and running allowing wired connections via LAN ports and wireless connections.

Useful flash with variable power
This is basic hotshoe flash unit. I use it for hummingbird photos. For this use, it has two desirable features. 1. variable power down to 1/16 th which is a very fast flash and can "freeze" the wings of a hummingbird at an aperture of f4.0 at 8ft. 2. Unlike some Sunpak flashes of this vintage it doesn't have an auto-off switch. That means the flash remains primed while you are waiting for the birds to feed. OK it consumes battery power, but what matters is being able to shoot immediately without repriming the flash (contrast with Sunpak 30 DX).

Apple TV 3rd Generation
2 of 2 found this helpful I used a HDMI to RCA converter to set up the Apple TV on an old Sony Trinitron in a second home so that I can watch shows from my Mac when I am there. I updated the Apple TV software (took about 1/2hour). Set-up is straightforward using the remote, although a bit fiddly when inputting network and personal Apple data for iTunes, etc. No problem syncing the Apple TV with iTunes via Home Sharing. And as my Mac is quite old (without Airplay) I use AirParrot to see my Mac screen on the Sony TV.
Works very satisfactorily.
