About
Dougal was a lurcher who had been kicked and beaten and kept in a yard 24/7. He lost an eye from that abuse. He was taken in by Battersea Dogs' Home and rescued by a family who he lived with happily for 16 years before he died. He learned to bark again; he loved stairs, walks and frisbees and shoes but remained wary of human feet. His human is now retired and tries out low budget old cameras and lenses bought on EBay, from charity shops and boot sales, then sells them on at a loss! Also rebuilds old English lamps for his own use.

Doesn't reduce sharpness, very slight increase in contrast and reduction in brightness
No discernible reduction of sharpness. Small increase in contrast in sky and cloud (desirable), reducing haze in sky, but also increases contrast in light and shadow around trees (less desirable), slight overall darkening

Good value provided you know its limitations
1 of 1 found this helpful Let's have a look what these rings can and can't do.
The M42 mount Zenits, Practicas and Pentaxes had an FFD of 45.5 NOT 45.2 like the Zenit M39 lenses. And the Paxette M39 lenses had an FFD of 44.0mm. So M39 lenses in an M42 fitting will not quite focus to infinity, unless the fitting is skimmed 0.3mm (for Zenit) or 1.5mm (for Paxette). Leica/FED LTM M39 lenses will not focus in any M42 fitting or camera.
So what these M42-M39 rings will not do is allow a Leica/FED, Paxette or Zenit type lens to focus to infinity when used in an M42 camera or fitting. Nevertheless these adapter rings are very useful.
Used with an FX-M42 adapter this ring has permitted use of Zenit and Braun Paxette M39 lenses on my Fuji XT for macro work. It has also allowed me to use M42 storage cases for storing M39 lenses. And because M42 adapters are very readily available and very good value, I shall be purchasing another two M42 adapter and skimming them, so that with M39 rings they will give correct infinity focus for both Zenit and Paxette lenses.
