    D-Link DIR-505L SharePort Mobile Companion

    Perfect for what I wanted
I needed to extend my home WiFi into a dead spot, set the DIR-505L as a repeater, plugged it into a wall outlet and for $15 i now have great coverage in 'the dead zone.'

    Fast network, slower interface (linux)
Love the capacity, the ease of setting it up (I set it up via the web interface, I did NOT use the included Access Anywhere software since I don't want to expose this drive to the outside world for ANY reason). Very easy to configure, it connected to the network at a full duplex, 1000Mbps (Gig-E) I ran a backup onto it (using Norton Save and Restore). It wrote the data at about 150 Megabytes/minute so it took a bit over 6 minutes to copy a full Gigabyte of data to the drive. That's actually faster than my D-Link DSM-G600 network drive (also hooked up 1 GB). Copying the old D-Link data onto the Western Digital drive (about 150GB of data) took about 4 hours, of course, it has to go through my PC. There was NO filesize limit, some of the files I copied were in the 10 to 12 GB in size, they copied fine. In other words, the linux OS that actually runs the World Edition network and creates the CIFS share isn't the most efficient in the world, but it works fine and I'm very satisifed with the drive. It works the way I expect a home network drive to work and was a great value at the price I paid.

    Works perfectly
Installed in HP Pavillion DV7-1020us after removing the BIOS whitelist. Works perfectly, both WiFi and Bluetooth.
