Semi Direct Fit Exhaust Flange Repair Flex Pipe Replacement Kit w/ Gasket FX2026
    Jan 25, 2017
    2005 Taurus Flex Pipe Replacement
The part went in very straight forward and it was a lot cheaper than a new catalytic converter; however, I did find two issues. First, the tail end (the part the pipe fits into) is short and it took me almost as long to get a clamp on it as to do the rest of the repair - to include chiseling off the old bolts! If that extension was just a half-inch longer this repair would have been done in less than an hour. Second, in addition to the gasket that goes between the flange, there is a second compression gasket that goes in a recess in the flange. I was not aware of this and that part is not included in the kit. I was most disappointed when I fired the car up and it sounded like nothing had been done. A quick search online, a trip to the auto parts store, and dismantling and reassembling everything a second time and it sounds like brand new. Overall I would recommend this, but save yourself some hassle and by that second gasket before you start this project.
