Next Level Pen Worth Adding To Your Collection!
After trying some of the entry level Metropolitans, Safaris, Preppy, after experimenting with Chinese clones of more expensive fountain pens for less, it was time to try the real thing. No, it isn’t my first gold nib pen, yet my favorite Platinum 3776 proved to be too small for my hands. All the Sailor pens I have tried so far are rather small as well. My brand new Sailor 1911 Large is as close to that “perfect pen” as it can be. And by perfect I mean it’s size and color. Not that it comes cheap, though. When shopping for this pen, I found the same model available online for nearly half the price. It was black, though, like Ford T when offered to the public for the first time ;-) Rhodium trim, as I wanted, 21 carat EF nib, as I like it, yet to find it in any of those more desirable colors at the same price level? Impossible. Well, since my collection of fountain pens is predominantly black, this time I decided to go wild ;-) Stormy Sea it must be, I said to myself, and I ordered exactly what I want. Going over $300 for almost the same thing I could get for less than $200 hurt a bit, yet “almost” doesn’t count, right? It arrived really fast and it is a beauty. It’s nib looks like artful piece of jewelry, resin has that next level look and tasteful shine, the clip is perfectly aligned. What else could I expect? Well, I expected it’s nib to write like a dream.
After installing proprietary cartridge I’ve noticed that some scratching occurred. It did write right away, though. From the scratch :-)
It was a bit surprising because my other, much less expensive, Sailor nibs are buttery smooth. My Sailor Compass MF nib produces super precise line, yet it is smoooooth.
Since I’ve already learned to trust the company (Sailor nibs are famous after all) it wasn’t time to give up. Few extra lines on Rhodia paper convinced me there’s some misalignment and it needs to be corrected.
After watching Japanese fountain pen makers adjusting nibs on YT videos, it wasn’t very challenging to carefully follow what some of those masters can do with their eyes closed. Yes! It proved to be the right thing to do. My Sailor 1911 Large writes like a dream now. The line is precise and smooth. Love it. It’s certainly a keeper.

Great sound in small package!
I've purchased this radio to stay in touch with the world while traveling from USA to Europe. Since FM band in most of the countries I'm planning to visit is the same as in US, I'm hoping to have no problems receiving signal from the local stations. Before putting my new radio to my suitcase, I've tested the sound and reception and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. All my favorite stations sound crisp, quality of the sound, in my opinion, is better than should be expected from such small speaker. Occasionally I hear some static, yet it's nothing in comparison to radios of similar size I've owned before. On top of that this product is rather easy on eye.

Great Movie About Great People
3 of 3 found this helpful If to make a powerful film version of Michael Shaara's greatest book "Killer Angels" sounds impossible, that means "Gods and Generals" achieved impossible. To direct thousands of people and make the battle scenes look as historically accurate as possible, that's another accomplishment. Of course, this is not action flick so do not expect flying guts, but there's enough drama and great acting to keep you on the edge of your sofa. Jeff Daniels as col. Chamberlain builds the glory of his character more on humanity than on heroism, so he seems to be more powerful than most of the Generals on either side of the conflict. It is a great story based on historical, thoroughly researched facts (Michael Shaara wrote the book almost eight years) filmed in the area where the Army of Virginians (The South) decided to destroy the Army of Potomac (The North)... A must see!
