Will NOT fit 77/78 Generation AMC Gremlins
1 of 1 found this helpful I'm unsure of the 70-76 model Gremlins but I've heard it will fit them fine. The 77/78 model (which we have a 78) the fit is extremely poor. Naturally an aluminum radiator like this is larger, but when I say don't fit I mean in other areas. For one, the filler neck is centered where as original location is to the right. No biggy, but you'll need a longer hose for your overflow. Upper hose location is also incorrect from original location so make sure you buy a brand new hose and you'll have to strategically angle it if you're rockin' an AC car. Lastly, the biggest problem, the mounts are tig-welded (cause aluminium) backwards. So your option is to cut them off and reweld them the right direction, or in my case I just cut them partially off and drilled new holes and made some brackets. I don't have a tig welder handy so that wasn't an option for me. I also had to take my AC system out temporarily to accomodate the mounts which interfere whether welded on the right way or not.
If you're mechanically inclined and have the tools, you can make this work. I managed to. if you don't have the means, don't waste your time. Get something more form fitted for the car. Again, though, I refer only to the 2nd generation Gremlin of 77/78. Anything before that is different and from what I've been told the mounts are the right way for the 1st generation cars.

Incredibly Effective
Very surprised at the quality of the product and how well it works. Honestly, I need to get a different thermostat as my engine is running a bit too cool. I also don't have a fan shroud so I'm most impressed.
