Rare Cd at an Affordable Price
I'm grateful to ebay for having given me the opportunity to pick up this rare cd at an affordable price. This disc is part of a series of 9 cd's put out by Ace in the mid 90's which put pretty much the entire 1962 to 1970 output of the 4 Seasons (and Frankie Valli's solo material) onto cd for the first time. This particular cd comprises the complete contents of "Christmas Album" (actually a reissue of "The 4 Seasons' Greetings" from 1962) and "Born To Wander" from 1964.However I should point out that this particular disc contains a great deal of material that was different to the usual 4 Seasons output. For example,"Christmas Album" includes a 20 minute medley of christmas carols accompanied by a string orchestra and "Born To Wander" contains material like "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" accompanied by acoustic guitars,an area more associated with the Kingston Trio or Peter,Paul and Mary than the Seasons.Nevertheless, there is still some great stuff here;wild versions of "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" and "I Saw Mummy Kissing Santa Claus"and the original version of "Silence Is Golden".There is also the only 4 Seasons song about surfing,"No Surfin' Today" (which I suspect was an attempt to undermine the rival Beach Boys as it was about a fatal surfing accident rather than the joys of catching the waves). As with all the cd's in this series, there are detailed and informative sleeve notes though I think this cd wouldn't be of much interest to those just looking for their greatest hits. For someone like me however, who has been a 4 Seasons fanatic for 50 years,it's a must!

Great British spy series from the 1960s
0 of 1 found this helpful Excellent set of 39 action packed half hour episodes introducing us to John Drake who works a s a secret agent for NATO.As well as the great Patrick McGoohan,(who went on to star in "The Prisoner") there's a great line up of guest stars frequently seen on TV in the day..A few years later.McGoohan would return with a 60 minute version of the show, also highly recommended
