The Devil You Know - Econoline Crush
Econoline Crush has been compared to a lot of bands, Ministry, White Zombie, Powerman 5000 et al, on their third release, 1998's "The Devil You Know". I will say this much, they're ALL wrong. This album will always remain Econoline Crush's jewel, First, this album was well before Powerman 5000's major debut and although produced by Sylvia Massey as well (She also produced such cutting edge music from Prince & The Red Hot Chili Peppers no less, so this was bound to be GOOD!) And it did not disappoint at all! Econoline Crush's "The Devil You Know" is far more melodic than anything Ministry, White Zombie or Powerman 5000 had ever produced. It's hard rock, but in a more chewable way. Not exactly bubblegum, not exactly thrash. For the bubblegum end of it, you might want to listen to "All That You Are x3", for the thrash, "Home" is the song you want (possibly heard on a million video game console ads in the late '90s in some form.) There's other awesome gems to be found on this disc, such as the opening cut and Canadian radio hit "Surefire" and second track "Sparkle And Shine" Do not EVEN pass "Elegant" "The Devil You Know" was one of the '90s most CRIMINALLY overlooked rock albums and well WORTH the money spent! Definately buy it from h2pilot0 on eBay if you can. She's simply an AWESOME dealer and if she has any of these discs left (or maybe others you're looking for), I'd check her out first before going anywhere else. My copy came is mint condition with everything selivered as promised! Cheers!
