Quality Item - Good Sound and DAB Reception
This is a quality item and for once you do get what you pay for. I got a refurbished one at around half-price which turned out to be indistinguishable from new.
The DAB reception is impressive and still works with the aerial fully folded away, receiving stations that my other DAB radios do not get.
The bass response is impressive - more than one would expect from 3" drivers. The sound is transparent and the stereo effect is good even from speakers that are so close together.
The user interface makes it so easy to explore and move between channels that I find myself doing this more than with any other radio.
The Bluetooth function (for which I bought this model) works well. It is a shame the battery is such a pricey extra ~£30, but I found a clone for ~£20 which gives a long play time with the radio disconnected from the mains.
There could have been more artistic imagination in the use of the full colour display. But this and any any other niggles are so negligible that I gave the unit 5 stars.

Very convenient, but sound just OK.
I was looking for a "speaker" solution for my new smart phone, and searched the web for budget solutions. The XMI X-MINI II appeared, and "seemed" to be the one to go for. I was dubious about the sound quality given the size, but online reviews reported miraculous volume levels and sound quality.
Hmmm, I can report that the sound is very serviceable for short range personal listening when there is nothing of better quality available. My smart phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) can only drive it to a certain level even with both devices turned up fully - not what I would call loud but comfortable for listening. My laptop can push the speaker further, it becomes usefully louder. More pushing causes distortion.
There is no audio miracle - it's the battery inside the speaker which provides the oomph, not the speaker per-se. It can be a bit of a pain to remember to keep the device charged up. While on charge the speaker can "whistle" stochastically after a while, and this is no good for listening! The literature says you can charge and listen at the same time - this is not necessarily true.
The combined charging/audio lead - did not reach my laptop's audio socket and USB socket at the same time - so I had to split it up its length.
