Realyl lucky with this pruchase
Firstly I'd like to start this review by saying that I'm delighted with the item, which will be a valuable addition to our offshore grab bag at a fraction of the cost of a new unit.
If you are interested in reverse osmosis water makers, which I'm guessing you are if you are reading this, you will know that the key part of the device is the semi-permeable membrane through which the fresh water is pumped and but against which seawater is prevnted from passing. The manufactuer's advice to me was that for units of this age the membrane has passed its sell by date and as a whole the unit is beyond economic repair whcih should be carrie dout by a service centre. The manufacture of survival equipment is a high risk business, so to a certain extent they woudl say that woudlnt they? With some helpful support from a 3rd party I was able to prepare my unit, check it was still working, and then flush.
I don't know if I got lucky wioth this unit or that is par for the course, but I will certinaly carefully check before we go offshore and place relaicne on it, as with all the survival gear, This ying , however, has been balanced by the yang of the complete carnage of our engine fuel pump - so everything in life balances out...

Good lookin' marine padlocks (small)
On our boat we always have all the lockers and companionway hatches fastened with padlocks which pass the same key to avoid any confusion in an emergnecy and for convenience. We also regulalry replace them for security.
These locks seem like they are well made and will be resistant to the marin environment. Four is the minimum we need, but would have been good to have five - one for a spare- but you in the words of Jagger, "you can't always get what you want. ...but you get what you need"
