Having only had plastic ice cube trays this old-school type stainless tray is a little fussy to work with, BUT...it’s not plastic and that alone is worth it. It doesn’t absorb all the smells of fabric softeners and home cleaners like plastic does when sitting in a store or warehouse, and it doesn’t leach chemicals and that plastic taste into your ice.
Rotosound SM66 Swing Bass Stainless Steel Hybrid Electric Bass Strings
Dec 13, 2017
Great for older Rickenbacker Basses
I've used standard stainless Rotosound roundwound strings (45, 65, 80, 105) on 1960s and 1970s Rickenbacker basses without problems. But for one early 1973 4001 with a slight forward bow in the neck (without trussrod tension) I decided to try the lighter gauge Stainless Rotosound SM66 strings. Gauged 40, 60, 80, 100, they probably relieve neck tension by some 15 lbs. That may not seem like a lot, but it can make quite a difference on an old 4001 neck. I am able to get super low action on the '73 Ricky and keep the neck laser straight! The tone is still beefy with that great piano-like sustain and presence! I'm thinking of trying these SM66 strings on my other Fender basses as well. Highly recommended!!
