High energy lab pup and the gentle leader

I usually need to keep q bit of tension on the leash, to prevent my dog from trilingual to scrap off the nose piece. But as long as i keep a little tension, all is really good. My dog is an 11 month old Black Lab. He has tons if energy and he can be truly wild. The Gentle Leader seems to calm him a bit.
