Great value. Mediocre construction.
The OEM 2008 Honda Civic visor has a tendency to split and break apart after some years of heavy use and eventually needs to be replaced. The OEM replacement is currently listed at $80 for one visor from most sellers. I opted to go with the $20 non-OEM replacement.
The replacement process was easy enough for my 13-year-old son to do it by himself. After installation, it was a bit tight to raise and lower, but I'm not particularly worried about that and expect it to loosen up over time. Regarding the build quality and specifications, I noticed two things. The more important of these two is the fit into the existing latch. The non-OEM's cylinder is narrower, so it doesn't fit into the latch nearly as well as the OEM product. It's not so lose that it randomly falls out, but it's not a great fit. The other thing I noticed was that the plastic hinges on the mirror cover seem to be made a bit shoddy compared to the OEM product. I'm not too worried about this as we're not using the mirror all the time, but it's still something to be aware of.
Would I buy this again? For a $60 savings over the OEM product, heck yes! It may not be perfect, but it saved a lot of money.
