I Wanna Punk Rock

This album covers the first 10 singles on the Step Forward Label including all the A & B sides. I have to say that hearing these records again just goes to show the power and attitude of the time and is an impressive first 10 releases on this label. The Cortinas sound like the pub rock band that discovered punk and turned them into punk wannabe's and should have been's. Chelsea are still around today (just) and these three singles are really the highlights of their career. Sham 69 released here the best record of the time and then suddenly allowed fame to go to their heads. Listen to this to hear what a great band they were. The Fall were ahead of their time with these two singles, its a shame that time eventually overtook them as they had so much potential. The Lemon Kittens...Every album has a dodgy track or two and every label has a duff band and for Step Forward it was the Lemon Kittens. Luckily they are at the end of the album so you can turn it off then. Dont be put off buying this because of the Lemittens as the rest of the album is ace.

The packaging is nice (ish) but the live recordings are not anywhere near the best I have heard.
