the vendor was fine, the product is cheap.
the product is not inexpensive and is not worth the cost. its material quality compared to the components you are connecting to is cheesy. i would expect it to be of the same grade as the linkage inside the tailgate.
the unit itself works but is made of a lightweight, very thin metal. i can easily foresee it breaking and having to be removed in a hearty 'f-y' fest in some parking lot when i need to put something in or take something out of the bed.
And btw, if you installing it on a Honda Ridgeline with the dual action tailgate, note that the lock attempts to prevent both methods of opening.
