Glorious Basterds
Incredible take on this story by Tarantino. He mixed the right amount of wit and satire with historical fiction based on the legend of this group of fighters. The use of German and French is refreshing when so many movies default to British English. Heroic and surprising and full of tension produced by the meticulous and detailed dialog. Tarantino nailed it.

Excellent subject, execution could have been better
I really like the premise of this film a lot. I thought it tended to stray from the focus just a bit to the point where I wasn't sure if it was about the tribe or about the human impact on whales and/or other animals species. I like that there was an attempt to integrate the two, and for the most part it was successful, but I thought the pacing of the film and some of the cross-fading affects lost the steady emotional force I thought it might sustain throughout. The gathering of spiritual leaders from all different places on Earth was a brilliant idea, but I'm not sure the film really conveyed the power of their meeting or showed any kind of resounding effect or resolve it had. All in all, a wonderful film about a critical topic within a critical state of being for our planet.
