Heavy enough, easy to use.
It's heavy enough to stay still while pulling painter's tape, so that is a plus. I wish I were using more types of tape on 3" diameter rolls so I could get another dispenser. I know it can be used with 1" rolls, but, for example, my electrical tape is on a 1 1/2" roll, so it is not useful for that.
