Nice Started Set
2 of 2 found this helpful I purchased this for myself to get back into wet shaving after a 15 year hiatus. I was really unsure of the quality, particularly for the brush as I have read a lot of reviews about brushes coming from China that smell really bad and shed a lot.
I have used this brush three times and am very pleased with my purchase. Very little smell which has diminishing as time goes on. I understand that there will always be some smell even in more expensive brushes that diminishes. Also, there is almost no shedding. Again there is always a little but in this case there has been almost none so far. My only complaint is that the handle of the brush is a little smaller than it should be to fit snugly on the stand. It you don't center it and push it all the way to the end of the hook so that it is supported on three sides it has a tendency to slip off the stand. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.
The stand itself appears to be well made with good fit and finish with a heavy sturdy base. Other than the issue with the brush I have not complaints about the stand. My cheap Chinese Weishi fits easily on the hook as does my Gillette Superspeed Flairtip, which has a similar size head.
The bowl is deep and solidly built. You can put a large bar of soap in it but I prefer a small bar because it is easier to keep the lather in the bowl. I like the lid because it looks neater, as in cleaner, on the counter top than a soapy open bowl or mug. There were a few scuff marks on the lid and bottom of the bowl like someone had scooted it along a rough surface. They were not deep and would probably buff out if I took the time, which I won't.
All in all a good value that I would not hesitate to purchase again or to give as a gift.

Rope making made easy
This product works exactly as advertised, and it is fun to use. Using different sizes of String and thread it is easy to make varying sizes of rope. My only concern is long term durability. Except for the gears everything is made from wood including the handles. The very first time I used it one of the handles broke. I was able to glue it back together since it was wood and so far it has held up.
