Great mechanical watch for a great price,
This is a great first mechanical watch. My son is turning 12 and has already had a bunch of cheap quartz watches that his mother bought him. They break shortly after buying them.
My son is a very smart boy and appreciates the fact that the watch is a tiny precise machine that keeps excellent time.
When I was his age I was getti g very interested in watches but I didn't know the difference between quartz or that mechanical war he's even existed. I have gone on to build an large collection of mechanical / automatic watches.
this watch is his 12th birthday present.
I was originally going to get him a mechanical search watch but once I looked at the price and the quality I began to look around for other options and remembered the seiko makes mechanical watches.
I searches around and found the seiko 5 sport line. I showed the various models to my son and he really like the military field watch look.
I searches around forocal retailers in Toronto, Canada where Iive then searched online. I found a retailer in Singapore (I know it is a big watch market having been myself a few times). They had the watch I wanted and the version made in Japan versus Malaysia for a good price. I was a bit reluctant to order but they had a lot positive reviews and trusted ebay would provide some protection.
I ordered it, it said it was going to take mi th to arrive, it arrived 9 days later and I love it. My son's birthday in 2 weeks so I haven't given it to him yet but I know he is going to love it.
One last note, the retailer I bought it from makes you buy premium shipping in order to get the original box. It is not well communicated so I was disappointed that I didn't get the original box. So if you order from this company and want the original box make sure to choose the premium (and faster) shipping option.
All in all, very excited to give this to my son and start his own passion for mechanical watches!
