2020 and its still going strong...
1 of 1 found this helpful The Iphone 7 Plus is surprisingly still a safe bet in 2020.
1. Price (A+) - Overall the prices have dropped substantially. AUCTION is the way to go! (in my opinion anyways). As long as you know what you are looking for you'll get some pretty good deals.
2. Speed (A-) With IOS 13 its still responsive. It has not slowed down at all and while it does not have the latest chip, it's still pretty fast
3. Battery life (B+) - it gets me through the day. I do find that I need to charge it in the afternoon if I'm watching long videos or playing games though.
4. IOS support (A+) - It will definite be supported in 2020 so no issues there
5. Hardware (B-) - Everything is still functioning as normal.
The virtual home button is still good and supports Finger ID still. I did notice an issue however if my hands were in water for a while but that is to be expected I guess.
The Camera is still pretty good. If this is an important aspect for you I'd say spend a bit more and get a more recent model (Iphone x going up)
The speakers (though not the latest and greatest) still sound pretty ok. I can even take a phone call in a noisy background with little to no issues. That is thanks to the front facing speaker. There is of course the headphone jack issue but it doesn't bother me as much.
Overall...its still a pretty solid phone
