VESA Apple Thunderbolt Display Adapter
With the Apple VESA adapter is no longer available it seems, this one does the job. It is a bit fiddly to install, you'll need a credit card or something similar yo expose the connector on the display (which isn't well explained in the instructions). One thing to note is that the VESA holes are at 75mm. Also note that it worked with my 2013 vintage display; apparently some others don't.
Dissapointing that it is painted white and doesn't fit Thunderbold Display look, but as you don't see it once installed this is a rather minor quibble.
