Tuneful operetta

Once upon a time EMI recorded operettas with Tier 1 opera stars. In addition to the more popular titles, EMI recorded some of the lesser known works by well-known composers, and operettas by less well-known composers. "Ein walzer traum" (A Waltz Dream) by Oscar Straus is not as familiar as "The Chocolate Soldier", but is nevertheless filled will wonderful melodies. Dialogue is kept to a minimum so the music fills most of this disc. If you like the tuneful exuberance of late 19th early 20th-Century operetta, this recording is likely to please.

Very likable

It may not be a laugh-out-loud / laugh-til-your-sides-hurt comedy, but it is a genial, pleasant, root for the little guys entertainment. The technicolor is vibrant, the scenes of rural England in a more innocent time are a treat to see, and if the plot is somewhat illogical, so what? It's 83 minutes of good fun.

Really nice basic train set

Even though this is probably a "starter set" since it includes track and power pack, it is a nice addition to an existing N gauge layout. Nicely detailed engine and cars. Check around for best price. The engine has a working headlight. It is not DCC so it does require the expensive digital command power controllers. Additional cars do not appear to be available.
