Intermittent use only

Good value (possibly) because it's cheap, but don't use this for anything other than intermittent use or it will burn out.

Looks good, but awkward to fit

This is well made and good quality, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'm a professional electrician and fit numerous types of light fitting and this one is just so awkward to install you wouldn't believe it. Cable entry options are one option only, the back of the fitting has almost no void space to accommodate your cable coming through the wall other than directly behind the cable entry point, which is off centre as well. Once your cable is inside the fitting there is almost no space at all to accommodate the connection block, which has to fit exactly on the pegs that the 'designer' has provided or the intermediate plate (which carries the bulb holder assembly, won't fit in place. On the plus side, it does looks good and if this is important to you then it might outweigh the awkwardness of installation, but I won't be buying, or fitting, anymore of these.

Effective and value for money

I bought this product primarily to use as a programmable security switch, to switch lights on and off at intervals whilst the house was empty for an extended period. Easy to fit and does the job. Be aware it doesn't work with LED bulbs (at least the one I bought didn't) but then I half expected that as I believe it is an old product. Programming is easy and the facility to use it as a dimmer switch as well is a bonus. It's got 3 stars because it's not 'amazing' and it's not 'better than expected', it does exactly what it's supposed to do and that's absolutely fine.
