50 years later, Herb Alpert still has the touch
It was good to hear Herb Alpert's spin on these old classics. 50 years later, Alpert's playing is still great.

A great biography on the great cornet player and musical innovator
This book uses Armstrong's tapes and personal correspondence to paint a very intimate portrait of the man some consider the greatest musical innovator of the 20th century. From his birth in New Orleans (NOT July 4 as he always insisted) to his final days when illness forced his retirement, the reader lives in the life moments of the great Satchmo. IF you are interested in the great cornetist, this is a must read. HIGHLY recommended.
