Amazingly relevant all these years later.
1 of 1 found this helpful While there are some aspects of the book that do reflect the 1940s era in which it is written, such as some politically incorrect verbiage by modern standards (he refers to a generic child as "it" instead of "he" or "she" - though in today's gender neutral society, who knows), I am amazed at how relevant this book is to today's heart and world's problems.
I've always heard about the "good old days" when so many problems didn't exist - but clearly the 1940s weren't the good old days, because Lewis feels it necessary to confront all the problems that we would consider relevant today - war, language, drinking/abuse, sexual immorality, indifference towards other humans, etc.
Clearly, people haven't changed, and realizing that, we can say that Lewis was correct - we have always, and always will need "mere Christianity."

Great sound for the size
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased two of these for a small office/workout room. I'd tried a S5 in the same room, but due to the center focus of the "stereo" and the nature of the room, the music definitely needed some stereo spread. Setting up two Play 1s as a stereo pair sounds great in this little room - and they pack a nice punch. It's surprising the amount of volume you can get from these and still have crystal clear sound.
I do find need to keep these turned a bit lower than my other Sonos products so that they appear to have the same volume as the rest of the rooms, but that's not a big deal.
