USELESS WITHOUT THE REMOTE!!!!

When I ordered this unit, it was advertised as being in good working order. However, when I tried to finalize discs to confirm that they recorded properly and will play on other dvd units , I found this impossible to do without the remote control unit!! How can this unit be adverised as it was if it can't finalize the recorded discs ? A waste of my time and money!!! David G. Cooper
