GREAT Fly Rod!

I had heard good things about the Fenwick AETOS over the past few years so I decided to give one a try. Wow...a very impressive fly rod! It is nicely appointed fly rod with solid, functional components. It has a nice tip for delicate dry fly presentations and plenty of backbone to deliver weighted woolly buggers across the river with authority. It will definitely out perform many rods that cost hundreds of dollars more. I will be buying more AETOS fly rods in the future.

Nice reel after a bit of cleaning.

I believe the reel is a solid performer if all components are working properly. I noticed when I received the reel that the drag was not working as it should. I unscrewed the gland cap to check the clutch inside. I noticed that there was some corrosion type residue inside the gland tube and on the clutch itself. I removed the clutch and noticed a small chip on a portion of the clutch. It did not appear to be in a location that would effect the drag working properly. I cleaned the clutch and gland tube the best I could and reassembled the reel. I loaded it with line and took it fishing on the Lower Sacramento River. I hooked and almost landed a 5-6lb steelhead along with lots of smaller rainbows. The reel seemed to perform properly and, most importantly, the drag functioned well. I believe I will enjoy this reel for many years to come.

Exceptional Fly Rod

I’m extremely pleased with my Douglas Sky 9’ 6wt fly rod. This is an ultra-lite, fast yet sensitive rod. This rod is powerful and can deliver the goods! It is great looking and very refined. I’m impressed!
