Nice purchase
This is a great read-aloud book. No illustrations means children need to use their imaginations---rare in a world of computer-generated-images. Contact with an adult who reads to them will be treasured throughout the listener's life. This book is not one to treasure for its appearance. It is to be loved for its content.

Win-Win!
My grand-daughter loves everything American Girl. As a former teacher, I encourage "reading" above any other child activity. Giving her a gift that will be enthusiastically received, and will promote reading is a win-win situation.
