One Trick Pony
8 of 9 found this helpful I will have to admit that most of my disappointment stems from the fact that I didn’t realize these earphones only work with their special Blue Tooth software. The reason I bought them in the first place was to have the ability to listen to audio content as I slept, or more specifically was falling to sleep. But I was super surprised to learn that I couldn’t listen to my own music library, audio books, podcasts as you can with virtually every other ear bud on the planet. You are effectively constrained to the propriety lobby of audio files the have available in their propriety app - mostly environmental sound scapes you would expect from “sleep inducing” audio files very similar to “Rain” or related files on ITunes, Spotify, etc. My big question is WHY? Why would you put such a limitation on a very pricy set of ear buds. Why make it essentially a one trick pony?
As for the one trick it does do - blocking out ambient noise with its inherent noise reduction technology, it seems to do just fine. I can’t really hear my snoring wife or snoring dog. The big problem for me was the fit of the actual buds in my ears. I loved the idea of buds you can sleep wearing, but these buds created pressure points that had my ears aching when I woke up in the morning. I’m sure this was not helped by the fact that I am a side sleeper so my ear (and thus the bud) is pressing into my ear. As for the sound itself? Nothing special, but then, it hard to tell when you can only play sound files as opposed to music.
I really wanted to love this product, given the limitations mention above, it is a huge “swing and a miss.” I would be even more unhappy if I had paid the full whopping price at $250 (I paid less than half that for a factory refurbished set).
So if you are a back sleeper who just wants to block ambient noise with “sleep sounds “ maybe they will work for you. But for me, they are over priced for an under-functioning hamstrung one trick pony.
