Citizen Promaster Sky Blue Dial CB5000-50L
You should note that the bracelet has a pin and collar system that connects the links. This means that unless you’ve got specific watch repair tools, you’re going to have to go to a jeweler to get it resized. This cost me an extra $25, so that is something buyers need to know ahead of time so they can figure that into the cost. One good thing about the bracelet is that you can access the push pins that connect the bracelet to the watch, which means you can also easily remove the bracelet and attach another type of band (leather, rubber, canvas) if you were so inclined.
As for the positives, the watch looks great. I have another Citizen with the same movement, but this watch is much more impressive looking. It has weight to it, but it isn’t overbearing like an Invicta Watch. My other watch has a black dial, this is brushed stainless steel (I think) so to me it just looks more expensive on the wrist. The bracelet is comfortable and matches the watch very well. This is something that Seiko cheaps out on with some of their watches, but not Citizen in this case. The bracelet also has three micro adjustments available to help with a better fit. If you register the watch, Citizen can send you free links or half links within the first year of purchase if I remember correctly.
If you’re new to Citizen, the Eco Drive and Radio Controlled features are life changers. You don’t have to worry about the watch once it is set. It keeps perfect time and as long as you occasionally charge the watch with light, it will keep going. If your watch didn’t come pre-set, you’ll have to go to YouTube to find help, its complicated. Don’t forget to reset the watch first, that’s crucial. My watch was off by only one minute when I got it, but it synced with the radio signal the first night and now it’s the correct time.
This new Citizen Promaster has perfect printing on it. Even the Japan Mov’t text which is tiny, is still legible. So this makes me think that this watch is indeed the real deal and not a knockoff or reject (I was able to register it with Citizen with no issues). Overall this is a sporty and also a classy looking watch. The blue lume is nice and shines pretty bright. The watch bracelet is quality and the eco drive and radio controlled features work as advertised. It should have Citizen reliability and longevity, but only time will tell.
