It works but that's about it!
5 of 5 found this helpful The screen display is very bright, washed out and cheap looking (no brightness adjustment). At night this is going to drive you crazy although fortunately the unit has a screen saver option which means you can at least drive with the display blank. My unit locked up (froze) on one occasion although it did recover on the next journey. If this happens I'd advise checking the date/time as this was reset when this happened on mine.
The single worst feature is the dreadful recording quality which at best might prove who's at fault but I wouldn't put any faith in it if you're hoping to record reg. plates. It does record audio but once again the quality is poor
In summary the unit feels cheap, which of course it is, and is substantially inferior to many Chinese imports which can be purchased for around £30 or so.

Excellent camera - as you'd expect from Pentax
3 of 3 found this helpful Effectively identical in size, shape, weight and features as the Pentax S30 the S40 is simply a 4 mega pixel upgrade. Plenty of reviews on the web of both the S30 & S40.
I’ve owned a Pentax digital camera for nearly 4 years without a hint of a problem.

Looks the job
I've previously owned a zip-tie Shortie so was quite interested to see how different the bolt on version is. Fitted mine to a Fox 36 which provided a very firm fitting and I would say looks better too without zip-ties covering decals and such. I wasn't so keen on the full sized version, either in terms of looks or weight, and would say performance considerations aside this is nice visual match to the Mudhugger long rear.
The design is such that it's clearly designed to be fitted to a great number of different forks with various adjustment shims included in the pack.
