Getting Started in Electronics

Excellent adult resource for electronic basics
I bought this for my 8-year-old, but it's actually an adult book. It is an excellent resource for establishing fundamentals of semiconductors and some basic arrangements, but the language and abstract thinking required will be difficult for my son.
Behringer P2 Ultra-Compact Personal In-Ear Monitor

As Advertised
I've been powering it for a couple days with rechargeable AAA batteries (it takes two). I'm using 1/4" input, and in-ear monitor. Volume is plenty loud. It clips nicely onto the outside of my pocket.
Brother HL-L2300D Monochrome Standard Laser Printer

Excellent quality and speed
Prints quickly and sharply. I was using an inkjet. The printing rate is about 30 times faster, and the quality about 20% better. I'm using Arch Linux and the brlaser project (AUR package available) got me set up wonderfully. Holds like 200 pieces of 8.5x11 paper and has a manual-feed place for paper I guess for legal pages? Automatic duplexing is awesome of course. The printer bends the paper a good deal, so when the paper comes out, if you set it flat on the table, the corners are up quite a bit. To get the paper flat requires some work, and it may relax over time.
