Class and history
This set is a classic addition to my collection.

Great detail, terrible axles.
I’m pleased with this locomotive. It has nice performance and is quiet. The detail of the locomotive is exceptional. However, like most products from the Proto 2000 line, the axles have failed. I ordered some replacements and I eagerly await getting it back on the track.

Older and lesser quality
Overall, this is a starter set, through and through. The quality of the engine is good. The nylon axles used in this engine are not. And now, replacement parts are near impossible to find. But when she runs, she is a beast. The rolling stock is good quality. Some of the track was missed in quality control. This is an older set, and Bachmann has updated its production & quality quite well.
