Stable and reliable without the needless bells and whistles
I've used many phones. In the past few years it's been the Galaxy S to iPhone 4s to Galaxy SII to other Blackberry devices and this phone seems to be the best of all worlds. I am not someone that needs much when it comes to phones so take my review with that in mind. I wanted something that is reliable and excellent at email and call quality. Something that had a top notch calendar that was easy to use. Something that had a decent memo pad. Something more customizable than the iPhone 4s that drove me nuts. More stable with less crashes than the Android that kept on failing to work when most needed. The Blackberry 9930 does all of this without the bells and whistles of other phones. No hours and hours watching videos or listening to music for me but I do need to use the internet quickly and without a lagging screen. Simple yet with the ability to "get with it" if I want to go there. You can say that there are more advanced choices out there but the customization of email and messages on the Blackberry 9930 is second to none. The real keyboard along with the touch screen make this a stand out among cell phones. As with most phones, a longer lasting battery would be appreciated but I really can not find much to complain about. An excellent phone with average battery life that is an excellent value if you purchase it used. Way overpriced if purchased through your carrier. If you don't need the complicated features and glitzy screen resolutions of Android and iPhone, the Blackberry 9930 does it well and without fanfare.

There are much better choices!!
4 of 5 found this helpful Take it with a grain of salt........ I was using a Samsung Epic with Android that is almost like having a regular computer and much more advanced than anything Blackberry but I just did not like the touch screen, the huge size and just hated the fact that every time I answered the phone, I either hung up on people or hit the ignore pad by mistake. This BB was the only other phone on the Sprint network that was a flip phone and a smart phone so I switched since I really never had a complaint about any flip phone. I like that design. It does not do anything that my Epic couldn't do. As a matter of fact Android can do much more in a much more concise way, than Blackberry.
I like the clamshell design, the sensible keyboard layout and the small size of the 9670. It seems to be well made and the clamshell is secure and stable without any wiggling like other clamshell designs that feel as if they are going to come apart. But............The Style is no where near the high end phone that my Android Epic is.
It has an antiquated interface with a lackluster screen and applications are just horrible. Slow, old fashioned and the tiny font on that tiny screen is tedious.
One of the worse problems of this phone is that the ringer will ring only once when you get a call. It won't ring until you or voicemail answers. It only rings once and that's it. If you don't hear it that one time, tough luck. I was not aware of that and can't believe that no other review has mentioned that. Hopefully I am wrong and someone somewhere will set me straight but I have checked everywhere and I was advised by BB that BB has no control of that and that I should call my carrier and complain to them but not only do I not think Sprint has anything to do with it but I find it completely crazy that I would even have to do that to get a ringer to ring until I answer the call or it goes to voicemail. Totally unacceptable.
Another complaint I have is that the call quality is just horrible. I don't know if it's just this one lemon BB or if it's all BB's but I can't clearly hear what the other party is saying unless I use the speaker phone (which is quite good btw). Raise the volume and it's too loud with rattling and fizzing every time the other party speaks. Lower the volume and it's just a lower rattling and fizzing. Unacceptable.
Using the camera is difficult. The camera lens is right where you need to hold the phone in order to use the camera so you have to carefully place your fingers out of the way of the lens and try to hold the phone without letting it fall to the floor. Why would anyone design something so, so wrong??
I have no idea who came up with this Blackberry idea and thought that it could in any way compete with "real" cell phones or much less any other smart phone but they ought to be ashamed of themselves. I do not recommend this Blackberry to anyone that has other choices. As far as I know, it is the only clamshell smart phone and that may be enough of a reason to go for it (I did and hopefully I will get used to it's "wrongness") but even this die hard fan of clamshell phones is extremely disappointed. At least I'm not mistakenly hanging up when I answer the phone. I guess I need to decide if that is a good enough reason to stick with the Blackberry 9670.

Totally worth trying.....
I was doubtful about the Fatboy making much of a difference since I really didn't think I needed help but wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Once I used it, I realized that I was just used to my "duller" sound. The Fatboy really did make a difference on my Buffet Tradition clarinet in fullness and depth of sound, intonation, clarity and just not having to try so hard in the upper register.
Every clarinetist should try using a "better" barrel. After all, this clarinet thing should be fun. The Backun Fatboy is that better barrel. Especially if you are a jazz clarinetist.
