Metra 99-3045 Single Din Dash Kit for Stereo Radio Installation

Just the thing needed to install a modern stereo in an old S10
Definitely the very thing needed to replace original 1.5 din stereo with either a single or double din. I bought this kit for use with a Chinese Android double din. As the Metra description states the Chinese units have outside dimensions slightly larger than those the frame was designed for. This does require opening up the insides for the frame included with this kit. I happen to have a mill that worked well for this purpose. If you are installing a Chinese stereo I would recommend checking fit then taking your head unit and this kit’s frame to someone with a mill to have the frame custom fitted if needed. This kit’s brackets are strong and perfectly designed for the ’96 Chev S10 and its like makes & models. My install required cutting out a section of a plastic form that channels a large cable bundle at the back of the stereo recess in the dash which is well covered in YouTube vids. Once completed the unit, with brackets and frame , fit perfectly even nesting with the heater control panel tabs. The result is very professional looking and functioning. Kudos to Metra.
