So many great features crammed into one tiny unit
I had played with a friend's Casio camera from this EX range to look at the high-speed functions - this was the sole reason I bought this camera.
I shot some amazing slow-motion footage of my baby daughter's early attempts at running, my teenage son's juggling, the movement of a horse's canter, birds in flight etc etc, all captured brilliantly (although the picture size is small at high speed). The only thing that's missing on this FS10 model is a better zoom, but that's the price you pay for the compact size.
The normal still camera features are great, too. The high-speed continuous shooting at up to 30fps is great to capture small bursts of high-speed action (e.g. my son doing a BMX jump) in fairly high resolution. Of course the image quality isn't going to compete with a large-lens camera (I use a Fuji S200EXR most of the time), but it's pretty good.
Another great feature you may miss is the lag compensation. When you take a still shot of a fast-moving scene (e.g. child on a funfair ride), you always seem to just miss the shot you thought you'd got. With the compensation, the camera shoots a fraction of a second BEFORE you press the shutter fully down, and you end up with the action you wanted.
My Casio was second-hand, but the battery life is still good - lasted a whole day's wedding shooting just recently.
Plus it's tiny, and fits in a pocket so it's always ready. Perfect!
