Cheap micrometers, iffy readings
The makes have a ratchet thimble, however the micrometers have a tendency to stop hard or too softly. This would not be a problem, but the ratchet does nothing as theres not enough force on the ratchet. Readings can very from +/- .0003 which is to high for a tolerance lower than .003. And if a part comes out low or high you still need to double check with a known standard such as, a comparator to see if the parts are still good or scrap. I would recommend these say for wood working or hobby machining. Avoid the hassle though if your doing this for a living, bite the bullet.... get a known quality brand. ***side note the issue with the micrometers is fixable first slow down the thimble speed to stop hard stopping. The thimble speeds up constantly theres nothing keeping it from just winging into the other jaw. Secondly, the ratchet needs to exert more force to apply a more accurate reading***
