Just like the original remote.
My parents couldn't understand why their TV wasn't working, but it turned out to be the remote. This one is no longer made, but I was able to find it on Amazon and eBay. EBay was significantly cheaper. Worked great right out of the box, no programming needed. We probably could have used a universal remote, but my elderly parents are used to this one so I'm glad to find it for them.
