NetApp DS4246 Disk Array Shelf W/ 24x SATA Trays 2x IOM6 SAS Expansion Array

Great for Data Hoarding

Before owning this, I used to dedicate a PC as a NAS. I'd throw a bunch of add in SATA cards to hook up drives and such. I basically got rid of that computer and now have just one box, that is hooked up to this disk shelf and it now does double duty as both my regular desktop and a file server (it's on 24/7). I've tried up to 16TB SATA drives in it and haven't had a compatibility issue with any of the drives I've throw at it. I followed the advice of another reviewer and bought a "LSI 9207-8e" HBA card and a with "SFF8088 to QSFP" cable to connect between the PC and the shelf. Worked out great. The other bonus is that this thing isn't all that loud for what it is. Highly recommended!
